Room 4

Welcome to Room Four!

Nau mai haere mai.

Kia ora parents, caregivers and whānau, My name is Jamie Leckie, I will be your child’s teacher this year. After graduating from high school I spent three years studying for a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning degree at Canterbury University in Christchurch. I am very excited to be beginning my teaching career at such an incredible school with a supportive community. Out of school I enjoy participating in a wide variety of sporting activities and hanging out with my friends and family.

Literacy, Physical Education and te reo Māori are passions of mine and I look forward to putting my ideas and knowledge into practice. I will endeavour to make learning in my class engaging, relevant and fun for the children of Room Four.

I believe that education is most effective when parents, teachers and children work together. I welcome your interest in your child’s learning and well-being and I am looking forward to meeting you. Please come in and introduce yourself when you get a chance.

Need to Know:

Over the next week, we will be getting to know each other and getting the framework of routines and expectations firmly into place. For me, my primary focus will be on identifying the specific learning needs of each child to make sure that learning is a ‘good fit’. Enclosed is a questionnaire for parents/caregivers to fill out and return to me as soon as possible.

In term 1 we are going to explore the concept of time and change and how this affects our lives, the children are going to come up with new ideas/concepts and look at future thinking.

Contacting me I am available in person before school from 8.30-9.00am. You can alternatively email me at j_leckie@coroarea.school.nz. If you wish to contact me over the phone you can leave a message with the school office (866 8893) and I will ring you when I am available. If you have any issues or concerns I have an ‘open-door’ policy and I am more than happy to meet with you. It is best to book in a time with me and we can arrange a meeting from there.

Resources If you have any spare newspaper/magazines at home that we could use for art, it would be greatly appreciated.

The Garden If you are a keen gardener and would like to help with our class garden then please contact me.

Swimming days: Monday and Wednesday
