Room 3

Kia ora Parents/Caregivers of Room 3.

It is great to be back at Coromandel Area School in particular teaching and learning in Room 3.  You may ask what do I mean by learning in Room 3? As the children have heard me say this week, it is my responsibility to teach but also to learn from them as well.

My name is Kelvin Wirihana-Tawake originally from Taranaki/Whanganui now calling Coromandel my home. There are familiar names and faces in our classroom and no doubt over the next couple of weeks I will get to meet you, which I am looking forward too.

So what has been happening at school since we all arrived back from the holidays? Room 3 have been working really hard on setting classroom rules and expectations for the year. They have struggled with this idea because the rules and expectations have come from the children and not me as their classroom teacher. Ask your child what these are when talking to them next. Another question to ask them is about our 10 step ladder that we will be working through during the year.

The next couple of weeks is going to be busy with camp and upcoming sporting events. If you are unsure of your students learning and have questions about their learning, please come in and see me, as I say to them” If they are not achieving, then me as their classroom teacher is not achieving as well.”
