New Principal For Our School

Coromandel Area School Board of Trustees is very pleased to announce that we have appointed a new Principal to start at the beginning of term 1, 2018. Koren Hopoi comes to us from Onewhero Area School near Tuakau.
Our Principal vacancy advertisement in the Education Gazette generated 11 applicants, two of which withdrew their applications. Of the remaining nine applicants we selected five to interview. We had support from the New Zealand School Trustees Association for this exercise to ensure our process was thorough and diligent. Our interview panel consisted of four Board members, also Vicky Rouse our Head of Primary here at C.A.S, Kate Donoghue who has an extensive educational background particularly in the area of special needs education and Brendan Finn who is Principal of Tairua School and the Lead Principal of our Community of Learning group.
Koren was clearly the stand out applicant and we are very happy that she has accepted our offer of appointment to the position of Principal for our school.
Koren has been Deputy Principal at Onewhero Area School for seven years and held the position of Acting Principal several times when their Principal was on extended leave or resigned. Onewhero Area School is very similar to CAS in many ways just with 500 + students. Koren has strengths in areas of curriculum, administration, staff management, teaching and general management of an Area School. We look forward to working with her and supporting her leadership to develop and grow our school in the years ahead.
We asks our community to welcome Koren, her husband Dave and their three children to Coromandel and join us in wishing them all the best for this exciting new beginning.

NCEA Exams

NCEA Exams: Start 9 Nov- 1 Dec. It is imperative that exam conditions are maintained over this time. Please make play and traversing arrangements in a way that totally avoids the top field, top courts and Science Lab area.
Good luck to all of our senior students.

Congratulations to all the students who have earned their NCEA levels 1,2 or 3 already, we know you will make excellent use of your time on study leave whilst preparing for your external exams. Good luck to our hard working students and remember that staff are available to help you with last minute questions and study sessions.
